Urgent Complaint: Dust Suppression Neglect at Kennedy Bay Development

I want to complain about the complete lack of dust suppression occurring at the Kennedy Bay
residential development site.

Properties in the vicinity, including my own, have been blanketed with dust over the past number of
weeks, with it entering our homes, contaminating our swimming pools, and building up on cars, etc.

This situaon is aggravated by the stronger onshore coastal winds we ofen experience in this area,
which blow tonnes of sand and dust eastward across the development site, blanketing houses and
making life very diffcult. On windy days, my pool is almost unusable. Despite vacuuming every day, a
large volume of dirt is suspended on the surface and seling on the bottom.

I am an asthmati, and this dust is made up of extremely fne particles that have adversely affected
my condition, resulting in increased usage of Ventolin and Breo medications. On the morning of
Saturday, 20 December 2015, I observed a visible dust cloud along Grand Ocean Boulevard, blowing
from the development site.

The development company has stripped all vegetative cover from the site and is doing nothing to
control the dust impacting the local community.
I call on the Rockingham Council to urgently address this situation. What action will the Council take
to ensure the development company controls dust at this site and protects the community from
further damage?

I look forward to a prompt response from the Council.

Yours faithfully,
Stephen Ewings
